Welcome back again to orienteering! This FREE event for SMOC members only will be run under British Orienteering's COVID-19 guidelines, observing social distancing and with extra safety precautions. The event will be pre-entry only, with start times allocated to all competitors. To try to avoid the public as much as possible, we'll also be starting earlier than usual, with starts available between 9.30am and 11.30am.

This event is pre-entry only. It will be run free of charge, and is open only to current members of SMOC and their immediate family. To enter, please email Steve, giving the following information:

Family groups are also welcome to run as a team. If that's you, please ensure you include full details of everyone in the team, as well as your preferred team name.

Please send your entries by 10pm, Friday 30 April.

Location and Parking

Parking will be at the Shenley Wood car park . accessed of the V2, Tattenhoe Street.


Start times will be between 9.30am and 11.30am. Courses close at 12.30. As always, don't forget to download, even if you retire.


Amble 2.8 km. Not very difficult. No road crossings, suitable for orienteers of all ages.

Trot 4.2 km. Moderately difficult. Safe road crossings, so suitable for orienteers of all ages.

Run 6.1 km. The same but longer. Only minor road crossings, not suitable for u16s.

Controls and Map

Electronic (SI) controls will be used, with mini kites. Contactless punching should be working. Punching start. Pcards (the flat, credit-card size SI cards) will be available to borrow for those who don't have their own dibbers.

Maps: A4 maps at 1:5000 scale.

Other Information

There are no toilets at this event.

Dog rules: well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please keep them on leads at all times.


Please ensure you maintain social distancing from other orienteers and the general public, both during your run and around the start and finish area. Please take extra care to be courteous to members of the public at all times.


To minimise infection risk, we won't be providing print-outs with your split times at the event. We will, however, aim to get everyone's splits up online as fast as possible after the event.

Our next local event will be on 13 June at Loughton Valley.

Our next Urban event will be on 11 September at Great Linford.


We'll be running this event with as few officials as possible, to try to cut down on infection risk. However, we could do with a few extra pairs of hands. If you can spare some time to help us set up, or if you could help out for a short while before or after your own run, please let Steve know.
