Keyne-O 3 - Caldecotte

Sunday 12 May 2019

The third in a series of informal orienteering events suitable for beginners, more experienced orienteers and runners. The courses cover the parkland around Caldecotte Lake and part of the Ouzel Valley. Longer courses will also have an interesting urban element.

If you haven't tried orienteering before, someone will be available to explain the basics and point you in the right direction. Entry is on the day so no need to pre-enter. No special equipment is needed - just wear whatever you would for a walk or run in the park.

Very straightforward. Suitable for complete novices, whatever their level of fitness. Does not cross any roads. Suitable for pushchairs and wheelchair users, but check with starter for information on avoiding steps.

Suitable for confident navigators of all ages. Today's course includes crossing a small car park entrance. This has been assessed as suitable for competitors under 16. There are no other road crossings on this course.

Short Run

Similar to Trot but crosses several estate roads and is not suitable for unaccompanied juniors under 16.

A longer course that is an extensive tour of the area, only suitable for fit and reasonably experienced orienteers. Crosses many estate roads and is not suitable for unaccompanied juniors under 16.

Electronic (SI) timing will be used for start and finish, with mini-kites and traditional pin punches out on course. Please bring your SI card if you have one.
